Established in 2004 by Michael Sherman and Greg Steele, WattageTraining was founded on the concept of evidence based training and data driven coaching as early adopters of power meters for cycling and managing an athlete’s training loads.
Together Greg and Michael founded the first structured junior development cycling program in Utah with the Rocky Mountain Cycling Club.
With Michael’s passing in 2015, Greg has continued to grow and run the company. In addition to coaching athletes, WattageTraining continues to investigate topics on optimization of performance from topics ranging as far as rolling resistance differences as a function of tire pressure for a given road surface to looking at measurable differences in drivetrain resistance for different gearing options.
Further, WattageTraining continues to push the concepts learned from year of working with cycling athletes into running and ski mountaineering as power meter technologies extend with products like the Stryd and Pomocup.
