you can buy a lot of room in the noodle by using the FSA CX headset.

I use one on my P3c with hooker brakes. Looks like the Trek uses the same IS headset so you can get one of these:

which will drop the entry point down lower and clean the noodle loop reducing friction on the front brake cable and inprove the "feel" of the brake.

Thanks - I remember that you mentioned this before. That would clean things up a lot. One problem on the TTX is that the front of the head tube protudes out a bit (it's not a round cross section). In fact in one of my first attempts the hanger I used interferred slightly and scuffed the paint which I'll have to touch up some time. One thing to pay attention to if you have a TTX frame.

FWIW, the p3c also has a headtube bulge and this headset clears it. FWIW, YMMV, etc etc.

<edit> I forgot I had a old pic of it:

Which, interestingly enough, the P4 lacks. So, either Cervelo changed their thinking re. this feature, or there is a P4.X waiting in the wings that will utilize the integrated fork/brake/aero bar system that they have patented.

Remember, you heard it here first!

You have an oriental rug on the floor of your garage shop?

I guess it goes with the fancy cabinets though... :D

And like the cabinets, a hand me down (originally from home depot, so quasi-tool related).

Sorry. I thought the depth of field of the pic would prevent this from becoming ST...

maybe there are spacers available with the cable attachment??

For Greg, is there anything special about the FSA CX headset vs. other brands -- for this application??

there are - see tom's setup. They are a dime a dozen at your local shop.

it is integrated, so you can probably get lower this was since the top cap with hanger is the same height as the stock FSA carbon top cap that came on the p3c.

That said, there is a ~2-3mm top cap that FSA makes for that headset, that if you could find a skinny spacer/hanger, you might end up slightly lower.

Cyclocrossworld.com has this deep drop hanger:

but it looks to be 10-12mm thick.
